On being REALLY rich
I'm not.
I read this interview with Eddie Izzard where he said something really interesting. He said that after a while doing street theatre, he knew that he could do it, he was confident about it. And when he knew that, he knew that all he had to do if he wanted more money, was do more street theatre.
He said that that was the point when he felt rich. He could go into a cafe and order egg and chips and know that he could afford it.
I've never felt rich like this and I would really like to. I'm just starting to read The Four Hour Work Week and I'm finding it very interesting. Especially the idea about not retiring. If you're rich, in an Eddie Izzard sense, (although I suspect he's actually rich in every sense now) then I suspect that it's a lot easier to not retire - you just take what you need. Almost everybody is either trying to build up a massive nest egg for their retirment - that's why they stay in their dumb jobs and work so hard at them or is do a la la la not listening act about what will happen when they get old or even weirder (but actually, I think I'm doing this) combining the worst of both worlds.
Maybe the web really is rearranging everything. Maybe there are some jobs that you can do online for a very few hours a week and make a lot of money. Mmm. Very thought -provoking.
